The Lexus had its first break down after 14 years of use. ;_;
April Fools! This car is going to outlive everything else on this planet before it dies.

I’ve written before about the guy who called in to Car Talk about his LS400 w/ 350K on it, wanting to know if he should keep it. He’d never even changed the spark plugs - tires, bulbs, oil changes, and an occasional alignment, and that was it. Even the early ones were bulletproof.

Not to mention gorgeous. I’m not a huge fan of the design direction that Lexus has gone in, but I really love 90s LSes.

I wouldn’t go gorgeous on any of them really, just dependably decent looking. I call it the Accord phenomenon - when I see the new Accord, I think - that’s not a good-looking as the last one. But after a few months, I don’t register the looks at all - oh look, it’s another Japanese sedan. I’ve always like the looks of the LS series Lexi, however, understated and doesn’t look like a giant. Had a job with a car home a few years back, and a few times the driver had an LS 600hL, or whatever it’s called. More comfortable than a Continental, more comfortable than my favorite taxi (Toyota Highlander). Although anytime anyone sends a car to take me home, I’m in. The back seat. It’s a nice perk.

Gorgeous was probably too strong of a word. I like dependably decent looking. I’m a sucker for understated utilitarian luxury cars. My ideal chauffeured car would be a Toyota Century.

That’s a good way to put it. I’ve never seen a Lexus design that I didn’t like, well, until the current grille situation. Those things are bad. Just hope they don’t fuck up the LS with that gawping jaw.

My family had a Camry, everyone said it will last forever. 4 years later, the bottom of the engine let go. I searched online, lots of other people with the same problem, and Toyota gave no help. The myth of Toyota reliability is just that, a dumb myth.

Mine has lasted 14 years without a single break down or major issue outside of basic maintenance.
